Rotary microtome operation guide: from start-up to maintenance

A microtome is a machine used to cut thin, uniform pieces of tissue. Before using the microtome, be sure to check that the power switch is intact and wipe the machine. Move the stage to the far right to expose the oil filler port, add a few drops of lubricating oil, and move the stage laterally multiple times to evenly distribute the lubricating oil. In case of emergency, please turn off the emergency brake switch immediately.

Steps to Start Up the Slicer

1. Turn on the power switch.
2. Use the "Box Temperature Setting Button" to set the box temperature to the required temperature.
3. Use the "Sample Head Temperature Setting Button" to set the sample head temperature.

Slicing Operation Flow

1. Install the blade and tighten the sample knife knob, wait for the blade to match the temperature of the box before slicing.
2. Use the "Slice Thickness Adjustment Knob" to adjust the required slice thickness.
3. Place the sample on a sample holder, apply embedding agent, and place it on a cold table for freezing.
4. Place the cooled sample on the sample head and clamp the knob of the sample holder.
5. Advance the tool holder so that the knife approaches the sample, and use the sample fast forward button to move the sample closer to the blade edge.
6. Adjust the position of the anti-plate plate so that the cut sample smoothly enters the slit between the anti-plate plate and the blade.
7. Use the "Keyboard Lock Button" on the control panel to lock the keyboard.
8. When shutting down, open the glass window and wait until the machine is completely dry before turning off the machine.

Precautions for Use

• The power switch must be intact. The method before starting up is: connect the power supply, turn on the main power switch of the device, and then start the power start switch of the device. The shutdown method is: start the equipment brake pads, turn off the equipment power switch, and disconnect the external power supply connection.
• It is forbidden to connect and pull wires randomly, and switch sockets must be on the wall. Prevent water from splashing on the power supply when cleaning or cleaning equipment.
• Non-staff members are prohibited from entering the work area without authorization.
• When the slicer is working, if there is an emergency, turn off the emergency brake switch immediately.

Knife Repair Requirements

When repairing by hand, first put down the workbench and stop cutting single crystals, and hold the oilstone at a certain angle to the blade to avoid cutting fingers. The limit switch must be set when automatically repairing the knife to avoid damaging the blade by the oil stone cut. It is strictly prohibited for non-staff to repair knives.

Requirements for Taking Pictures

You must wait until the workbench is lowered to the minimum level, focus your attention, and it is strictly forbidden to talk with others during work to avoid cutting your fingers. It is strictly prohibited for non-staff members to take pictures.

Site Conditions

• The ground on the site is clean and tidy, and no items are allowed to be placed indiscriminately. Before getting off work, turn off the "water, electricity, gas" main switch.
• Fire-fighting equipment is placed in a reasonable location, and staff must master its operating methods and regularly check whether it is in good condition and has expired.

Maintenance

• Depending on the use of the slicer, it takes about one week to remove the knife guard and clean it, clean it with a damp cloth and then wipe it dry with a dry cloth.
• Before cleaning the slicer, unplug the power supply. It is strictly prohibited to rinse with water. Only clean it with a damp cloth, and then wipe it dry with a dry cloth to maintain hygiene.
• According to the use of the slicer, refueling is carried out about once a week. Every time the fully automatic slicer is replenished, the carrier plate needs to be moved to the refueling line on the right before refueling. The semi-automatic slicer is replenished on the stroke axis.
